Associated Weavers Group

2005
Creation of a new division. Under the brand name of Papilio, Prado Rugs presents a collection of hand-woven and hand-tufted carpets to complement the existing Prado collection, in order to offer a complete range of products.

2001
With the take-over of the French company Balsan, a carpet manufacturer in contract carpets, Associated Weavers strengthened its position as a market leader.
 
1998
Associated Weavers International acquires a factory in Liberec, Czech Republic.  This factory currently functions as a finishing centre for rugs and runners.

1997
Associated Weavers International is the first Belgian carpet manufacturer to be floated on the Brussels Stock Exchange.

1993
For the first time, the production milestone of 50 millions m2 in one year is exceeded.

1990
This year brought the acquisition of Prado, a company with a longer history than its current parent company.  Prado was founded in 1909 by the Van de Wiele family, under the name "Tissage Van de Wiele".  Later, the name was changed to "Vlaamse Tapijtweverij" (Flemish Carpet Weavers) and finally became Prado, a reference to the famous art museum in Madrid.

1984
A management buy-out followed in 1984 when Champion International decided to withdraw from the carpet industry.  As a result the Associated Weavers International Group was created.  Today it is one of the largest carpet manufacturers in the world.

1969
In 1969, Champion International took over Trend Mills and the British company Associated Weavers.  Following this, Associated Weavers began producing tufted printed carpets in Ronse.

1964
Associated Weavers
was created in 1964, when the American Trend Mills Group decided to open a division in Belgium.
